This tutorial assumes you have some extracting an image from a photo and how to apply a mask. Watch the video tutorial if you find any part ambiguous. View Video or iTunes

Part 1

1. Create a new layer. Fill the layer with color #008AFF. This layer will be above almost all layers. Set it to overlay.

2. Create new layer and fill the layer with the paintbucket on black. Go to filter>noise>add noise. Choose monochromatic and gaussian. Bring the slider to about 23%. Take the magic wand (tolerance about 60) and select a black pixel and delete the selection made. Go to image>adjustments>hue/saturation and bring the lightness to 100. Go to filter>blur>blur. Create a mask for this layer and with the colors set to default, select the mask layer and go to filter>render>clouds. Go to image>adjustments>levels with the mask layer and bring the white slider and gray slider to the left.

3. Create a new layer. Make a black to white vertical gradient across the document and bring the opacity down to 12%. This will be the bottom most layer of the document.

Part 2

4. Create a new layer under the blue fill layer. Take the pen tool and makes large curvy out of control shapes. Make sure the shape is connected. Right click (ctrl click for mac) on the shape with the path selection tool and fill the shape with black. Bring the opacity down to 10% to 35% opacity range. Apply a gradient mask to this layer. Repeat the process.

5. For one of these shapes in step 4, add perspective to make it look like a floor. Go to edit>transform>perspective and make this shape give the impression of a floor.

Part 3

6. Cut out the person from the background (I assume you know how to do this). Go to Image>Adjustment>Hue/Saturation and drag the lightness slider all the way to the left. This will be above all layers.

7. Duplicate the person. Go to edit>transform>skew. Take the top point in the center and drag to one side. Apply a mask that has a gradient so that the image fades as the shadow gets further away from the person. Bring down the opacity a bit too.

Final Result:
